Demi Lovato’s always been willing to speak out about the struggles she faced with drinking in the past, and is often cool enough to make a couple of jokes about it herself to lighten the situation. Not quite the same when someone else makes jokes about it though, is it?
It was a bit of a weird one on the X Factor USA final on Thursday, when the show aired what was supposed to be a comedy sketch, featuring Demi drinking a dodgy looking substance. Err, we have a feeling someone might be fired for this one.
Demi was noticeably furious and shocked by the hugely insenstive segment of the final, which showed a sequence of clips digitally altered to show her repeatedly sipping on a bright green drink while judging contestants with Simon Cowell.
After a baffling couple of minutes, the sketch revealed that the whole HILARIOUS (ahem) joke was that the drink was supposed to be ‘Annoying Juice’ - an explanation for why she and Simon bickered so much during the show.
The most awkward part of the whole thing was that Demi’s reaction to the clip was embedded over the top, showing her watching with a look of complete disgust on her face, and even mouthing ‘That was f**ked up’ to one of her fellow judges.
When asked by the host what she thought of that (err, what do you THINK she thought of that, AC Slater?), Demi kept amazingly calm and replied with a very forced smile: “I think it’s very, very clear since I don’t drink anymore ‘Annoying Juice’ has become my new drink and I love it because I get to annoy Simon with it.”
