Demi Lovato Opens Up about New Song Dedicated to Her Late Father

You might love Demi Lovato’s single “Cool For The Summer” now, but if Lovato had gone with her initial intention — to feature a different song as Confident‘s lead single — we might be spinning a different song of hers right now instead. As a matter of fact, we have the tracklist, but we don’t really know what the rest of the album sounds like, or at least we didn’t until today.

One song in particular that is still shrouded in mystery but is apparently close to Lovato’s heart is the last song she recorded, called “Father.” Written for her late father Patrick, Lovato confessed to Billboard that the song has a different sort of feel than a lot of music she has worked on in the past.

“My fans expect me to be honest, [but] what I think that people in general aren’t going to expect is the way that I sing the song,” Lovato told the site. “I took it more to a soulful, gospel kind of sound, and it’s the song that I think I might be most proud of on the album.”
